The Thornhill Reds clinched first place overall in a tightly contested GTBL pennant race on their final home date of 2023. The Reds secured the number one seed and four hundred dollars cash, with a league leading fourteenth win of the season- a 5-2 home win against East York. Thornhill led the standings almost start to finish, trailing on just a handful of days by a mere half game to the second place Newmarket Hawks. 2018 was the last time the Reds finished first, closing out the year with a GTBL championship as well.

The Reds start their quest for back to back titles on Friday night, at home with a 7:30 start against TBD. The GTBL will play a six team double knockout tournament to determine the 2023 champion. Early rounds are at Bishops Cross and Talbot Park, with host Leaside getting the action Saturday afternoon and evening, as well as Sunday's semi final and final at Talbot Park.

At the Provincial Elimination tournament, it was a top five finish(out of 19) for the Reds in 2023 as the boys played again into Sunday. It was a tall order for a banged up and short rostered crew all year long, however the club exceeded many onlookers expectations in reeling off three wins down in Windsor. Thornhill topped Kendal, Ajax and Strathroy on the big stage, while falling to Leaside and nemesis Sarnia in the round of five. Again, the Reds were one of few standing at the end, solidifying the program and it's accomplishments over the last handful of seasons.
