A booming two out, three run double off the bat of Reds catcher Kris Fielding put the home side ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning, guiding the Reds to a 5-3 home win against the Pickering Red Sox.
Fielding finished the night with three hits, and raised his average to a gaudy .433 in GTBL play. Zach Lampreia(1-0) was the winner in three innings of excellent relief work, Lee Choiniere and Mitch Sutton also chipped in with a scoreless frame each out of the pen.
Josh Appel started and worked two scoreless frames, a small tune up before he takes the ball Friday night against Oakville in the Vaughan tournament opener. Besides the A's, the Reds will also see the Erindale Cardinals out of COBA, and the Kendal Eagles, who play out of the OSBA loop.
