The Thornhill Reds have been busy in the 2018 offseason, with a number of additions and subtractions.
Gone is long time Red and former captain Chris Bloom, who moved north and subsequently has signed with the Newmarket Hawks. Also gone to the Hawks is Dan Lehmkuhl, who pitched a number of good outings for the Reds in 2017. Peter Joseph will stay in the USA this summer, and has signed with a college travel team in Michigan, the Reds figure to see him a few seasons down the road. Joining the Team Ontario coaching staff is Joe Presutti and Yusuke Oshima, both will be busy over the summer months. Also not returning to the club for 2018 is Cal Mui, Junya Oshima and Edwin Ronquillo. The Reds wish all former players the best of luck with their new clubs or life after baseball.
Back in a Thornhill uniform for the upcoming season is Jeremiah Groulx. The former Graceland U infielder has had some big years for the Reds in past, and should jump right into the mix for at bats and some innings on the hill. Relief pitcher Hunter Greenough is also back with the club after a medical red shirt year at Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, and is itching to get back on the mound. Thornhill also signed former Milton Red Sox OF Dan Apostoli, after a very good rookie season in senior ball. Dan graduated from Laurier U where he played four seasons, posting very good numbers in the OUA. LHP Ben Brown has also committed to the Reds for 2018, after his freshman season at Albany U in New York state. Thornhill is eager to see Ben compete in GTBL action.
Stay tuned for a couple more additions to be announced over the next couple weeks, Coach Revin continues to work the phones and internet as the season gets close to starting.
